I hate to interrupt my constant flow of art-in-progress updates (I know, I know..) with a silly squee of joy, but I just wanted to document that my Helena Bonham Carter portrait from September was selected as portrait of the day at stars-portraits.com for today, 25/11/2008!

I didn’t expect it to be finished this soon, otherwise I wouldn’t have posted yesterday with its progression but I figured it would at least take me another day or two.
And unlike other times, I’m perfectly happy with the result, although (yes, here it comes) there should’ve been some shading on the wall behind her head, I totally forgot and I didn’t see that until after I scanned it, but I can live with that because her nose isn’t too long - my trademark flaw in most portraits.

Almost finished with the drawing. The pic (clickable) turned out a little too dark I see now but I’m happy with the drawing’s progression, what an unsettling feeling!

First stage of the Helena Bonham Carter pencil drawing I started yesterday. There’s not much else to say about it right now, I like how it looks so far so I don’t have any self-criticism to apply to it yet. ;)
